| What is PTA/PTSA? PTA is a volunteer grassroots organization made up of parents, teachers, and others around the state who have special interest in children, families, and schools. Membership is open to anyone who believes in the National PTA Mission and Objectives. The PTA is committed to being inclusive in its efforts to represent and assist all who nurture and educate children. It not only welcomes but actively seeks in its membership the widest diversity of cultures, races, ethnicity's, creeds, and economic and educational status. "PTA" (Parent Teacher Association) and "PTSA" (Parent Teacher Student Association) are self-governing units linked to the County Council of PTA's, state PTA and National PTA. Through this linkage, the local unit is part of a nationwide network of adults working for all children and youth. MISSION OBJECTIVE: The mission of the National PTA is to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation. |

Florida PTA Purpose: To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship. To raise the standards of home life. To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth. To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education. |
